Tobias visibly relaxed, "Anala, I don't think those people are real... I think you imagined them to help protect your mind from the isolated loneliness that you were forced into." Tobias reached out and pulled Anala protectively close to him. "Even if they were real you won't see them again until after you die. You need to move on and embrace life here in the living world. If you keep looking back to that time you spent there you'll trap yourself there and you won't be able to move on or grow." Tobias looked like he might be pulling from personal experience, not that he'd admit it.

"My friends are real!" Anala said in a huff, annoyed now, "Just because you have not met them does not mean they are not real."
Anala blew out a breath, and tilted her head. Her eyes lost focus for a little before she looked up at Tobias, snuggling closer.
"Just missing someone does not mean I will not be able to get on with life, Toby. Obsessing over them, sure but not missing them. Plus you never know, maybe I will see them. Its Halloween soon. The veil between the worlds are supposed to be thin now."

Tobias rolled his eyes at her frustration, but became serious when she mentioned the veil. "You better hope nothing happens that would cause something like that to happen. If there is something so terrible going on that we are seeing ghosts then I will NOT be taking you trick or treating. I'll have to try and help the crazy people who are trying to fix whatever's wrong and YOU will be at home with the doors locked. SAFE."
Tobias' words had a terrifying finality to them.

"Yes, Toby," Anala paused and grinned impishly up at Tobias, "but the veil is thin everywhere, right? So wouldn't it make more sense to keep me with you and go trick or treating rather than lock me up by myself, where I can't get help?"
Anala snickered and leaned her head on Tobias's chest.

Tobias glares down at her in silence.

Anala smiled at Tobias, content. "So how you feeling now?" she asked, glancing at his legs.

"I have been fine since you first asked. You know it doesn't really hurt anymore when I get injured." Tobias laid back staring up at the sky again. "Wish this numbness came a whole lot sooner in life... would have made things easier..."
Tobias placed his hand on the top of Anala's head and mussed up her hair.

"Uh-huh," Anala allowed the mussing for a few seconds, enjoying the petting, before she pushed his hand away with a mock snarl, "Not my hair!"
"If you're ok..." she said grinning at him, "Then come find me!" Anala jumped up and raced into the woods.

Tobias sat up with urgency watching Anala run off then looked at his leg. "Fuck..." Tobias stood up a little unstable and started running after Anala. He was slow and almost immediately leaned against a tree. He glared down at the injury for a moment before closing his eyes. One last crack sound came from the leg then Tobias looked up into the woods his eyes were transformed as he shifted. "You're gunna get it..." Tobias threatened quietly before howling and darting off into the trees fully transformed.
He could smell Anala clearly now and was gaining on her already from his delayed start.

Anala let out a delighted laugh, "NO fair shifting!" She yelled. She ran, swinging around trees, trying to confuse the scent trail a little. She began her own shift and ran back in a small circle. Anala darted up into a tree to hide in the shifting shadows of the leaves and branches.

It wasn't too long until Tobias reached the area where Anala had started to circle back. Tobias slowed down and nose to the ground started to track. It wasn't too long before he was at the base of the tree that Anala was in. He barked up at her, "ANALA! What did I say about climbing trees?! Get the hell down here before you break something!"

Anala peered out at Tobias from the leaves, her eyes flashing golden. Laughter spilled from her as she swung down to hang upside down by her knees from a branch, her arms hanging down to wave at him.
"I'm a cat, Toby." Anala said, a slight lisp marring her speech from the fangs of her hybrid form. She pulled up and grabbed the branch. Unhooking her legs from the tree, she dropped to land on the ground, knees bending deeply to absorb the shock before straightening up, "We land on our feet."

"Cats can get hurt too you know." Tobias looked around getting his barrings he hadn't exactly been paying attention to where they had gone but he quickly reoriented himself. The forest was a familiar place to both of them at this point.

"Yea," Anala conceded, walking over to brush against him, "but I am safe with you." Anala smiled at him and grabbed his hand, careful to not scratch him with her claws. Tugging him along, she started walking.

Tobias jerked forward as Anala tugged on his hand. He looked at her with a annoyed older brother glare, but as she turned away from him and looked forward Tobias' face softened and held a crooked smile for a second. Tobias trudged along behind Anala provided just enough resistance to Anala's pulling to make things a little more difficult for her.
